Fretless bass made from scratch

i made a fretless bass for my sophomore woodshop class last semester. the body is a two piece body made out of mahogany. the neck is a 6-piece maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. it has an EMG pickup and the scale is 30.5". it's about half a foot shorter than a regular scale bass.

the back of the neck.

here is a close up of the fretboard. the position markers were sawed into the fretboard, then i glued dyed maple veneer in the slots, and sanded off the excess to make it flush with the rest of the fretboard. there is a polyurethane lacquer finish on the neck, body, and fretboard.

the front of the body before it was attached to the neck. the blue around the pickup is the same dyed veneer i used for the fretboard markers.

the back of the body before it was attached to the neck. the control cover on the back is made of purpleheart, a hardwood that turns purple when exposed to oxygen.

the whole project took about 3 months, about 25-30 hours of work in total.
