College things

So I'm not really certain if I've done the numbers properly or not but here's how things are working out for me in college

http://i.imgur.com/MaydgqD.png

My total cost (For this term) will be 7,793; however that price is actually wrong (I'm waiting on my resident status to be change, as I'm a resident of oklahoma)

Subracting the 4592 leaves each term to be 3201 (Yes tuition will be different for the next term but I honestly can't expect it to be very different, so this is a safe bet)

Meaning the total year will be 6202.

My total awards for this year: http://i.imgur.com/TU8uL0F.png

One thing to note here is that the AER (Army Emergency Relief) is actually two-part, it will total to 3300 (It just hasn't been sent twice yet, 1650 per term), and this is a scholarship and is thus taken off first thing)

So, total cost goes from 6202 -> 2902.

Now, I have 11475 remaining from Pell/SEOG/Work study, which isn't actually all of my aid. I also have Chapter 35 benefits from VA which are directly deposited into my bank account at 1,050/month (8m for 8400)

Raising my total aid (takehome aid) to 19875, I call this 'takehome' aid because each of the federal aids are refunded at the end of the year when they overpay for tuition/etc and are sent as a check to your address.

So, our final of 19875 - 2902 = 16973. 17k going directly into my bank per year from attending college. I'm not including book costs yet, and I'm living with my parents for the sake of saving up money.

Am I doing something horribly wrong here (for those of you familiar with FASFA stuff or VA benefits), because this seems incredibly strange, or am I actually going to get this straight to my pocket?

tl;dr: Rainrain mistakes that he's taking 17k/year home for going to college horribly.

Re: College things

The pell grant will almost undoubtedly give you the full money, same with VA benefits. The fed subsidized/unsubsidized student loans are required to pay back, why did you even take out a loan lol? The work study / SEOG though I'm not sure about. There's a chance they might just request the money back.

Either ways just pull a fred and spend all your money on hearthstone cards

Re: College things

I didn't accept either of the loans, and work study is basically a job, which is payed on the 10th of every month to you, so I'm fairly sure I keep that as well.

Re: College things

I figured I should bump this and confirm that I'm legitimately getting all this money
